When Should You Use a Transport Cart?

One of the first things to consider when selecting a piece of equipment to convey your load is the load itself. What kind of load are you carrying? Which product you choose is often determined by the response to that question.

  • If the load is stacked on a pallet, a pallet truck will most likely be used to lift and move it. Pallet trucks (also known as pallet jacks) contain two forks that slide beneath the pallet; elevating the forks raises the weight a few inches above the floor, and you then push or pull the pallet truck to start it moving. However, pallet jacks require room to maneuver, thus they can’t be utilized if there isn’t enough.
  • If the cargo is on the floor and you can slip the bottom edge (also known as the nose plate) of a two-wheeled hand truck beneath it, it is the best option. Two-wheeled hand trucks, often known as dollies, may be maneuvered in confined spaces. You just tilt the handle back from vertical to raise the weight off the floor and wheel it away with the load placed on the nose plate. However, load size is a restriction when utilizing two-wheeled hand trucks: the weight cannot be huge or cumbersome, and it must be stackable in the vertical dimension.
  • A dolly may be the ideal option for you if the weight is heavy or bulky and you can push against it. A four-wheeled hand vehicle with a flat platform and no handles is known as a dolly. A dolly is more difficult to use than a pallet truck or a two-wheeled cart since you must physically raise the cargo onto the platform.

The main drawback to using a dolly is that it has no handles, so you have to push the dolly   against the cargo itself to move it. A dolly would not be an acceptable choice if the weight is delicate or would shift if force is applied to it.

For exceptionally lengthy or heavy cargo, transport carts are an ideal solution. The weight can extend off the ends or sides of the cart as long as it stays balanced on the cart. If you were at a lumber yard and needed to carry a dozen two-by-fours of various lengths, you could stack them on a transport cart and let the boards’ ends protrude over the cart’s platform. The transfer cart will function better for fragile loads than the dolly since the transport cart has handles to push against, whereas the dolly does not.

What is the benefit of using stainless steel?

We can supply you with a variety of transport cart models and kinds at Robon Equipment. Your transport cart can be made of a variety of materials, including wood, steel, and aluminum.

Stainless steel variants of transport carts are also available. These are great in situations where no other material would be appropriate, such as:

  • Corrosive Environments – Consider a stainless steel transport cart if you handle and carry corrosive products or if there are fumes in the air that might corrode steel. Stainless steel is corrosion-resistant and has a long-lasting finish. If you live near a shoreline or a big body of saltwater, such as an ocean or an estuary, stainless steel also resists corrosion.
  • Hospitals – Hospitals place a high priority on cleanliness and sanitation. Because it can withstand the harsh cleansers used by medical workers to disinfect and sterilize equipment, stainless steel is frequently used. Choose stainless steel if cleanliness is a priority for you.
  • Stainless steel – Stainless steel is an excellent choice for transporting food, supplies, and restaurant equipment in the food service industry. The powerful cleansers commonly employed by food service workers will not corrode or harm stainless steel, which is crucial for cleanliness.

If you determine that a stainless steel transport cart is the best option for moving goods throughout your business, contact Robon Equipment for a variety of options. The two models shown here, for example, are only a few of our numerous offerings.
